This slow Trap/R-n-B fusion by ‘Khaligraph’ is quite a surprise from the hard-hitting MC who has laced all kinds of songs with his seamless flow of rhymes and lyrics. It’s surprising because of just how much slower it is than his typical releases, and its overtly raunchy subject matter. And not just that, but many of his fans compared it to American rapper ‘Drake’s sound.
While the song misses all vital points on originality and lacks anything to identify it as coming from Kenya, ‘Naked’ is a piece of musical art that’s as sleek as R-n-B can be. Producer ‘Motif’ applied the right formula for R&B instrumentation by keeping it light and unsaturated, while occasionally filtering the beat with effects for a sentimental groove.
The lacy lyrical content, however, may prove to be ‘Naked’s glass ceiling in a still-conservative Kenya.
